Look to the left to see a strange mailbox, then pull the chain to open it and read the letter inside. After the letter falls, note the number 29 inside the mailbox. Turn around and follow the right path, heading up the stairs towards the museum. On the way you will come across a large pot - look behind it to see an orange vase design. Continue climbing the stairs to reach the door and note the grey semicircle design here. Press the doorbell to hear a recorded message about the museum not being open.
Go all the way back down the stairs, then follow the other path to reach a stone monument. Look on the ground behind it to see a green sun design. Continue along the path and examine the bench to see a brown circle design. Turn back along the path and you will then find a white double-spiral design. Turn back again and follow the path into a gazebo. Set the dials to show the number 029 (from the mailbox), then press the red button to open the device. You are now shown a set of black and white gears that currently occupy 6 out of 8 possible locations, as below:
To solve the puzzle you must swap the positions of the black and white gears within 7 moves. One possible solution is as follows:
- Move black gear from 2 to 1
- Move white gear from 6 to 2
- Move black gear from 4 to 6
- Move white gear from 7 to 4
- Move black gear from 3 to 7
- Move white gear from 5 to 3
- Move black gear from 1 to 5
Turn away from the gazebo and follow the path to the right, then over some stepping stones in the water. Once you reach the stone monoliths, look through one of the arches to see a bronze cross and circle design carved into the rock beyond. Look down at the large multi-colored device on the ground. You now need to match the colors with the symbols you have seen on your way here:
- Brown: Circle
- White: Double spiral
- Bronze: Cross and circle
- Orange: Vase
- Grey: Semicircle
- Green: Sun
Go down the blue stairs that are revealed. Open the door and step through. Turn left and press the small red button, then pull down the lever to turn on the lights. Turn back to the right to see a dimly lit corridor. To get through the maze, head forward twice, left, forward 3 times, right, forward twice, right, forward 3 times, left, forward 5 times, left, forward twice, right, forward twice, right, forward twice, left and forward. Open the door and head through.
Turn left and go forward, then examine the body of Professor Windlenot. Read through the book "Egyptian Hieroglyphics Explained" - after you are done, you can access it in the future using the Flashback feature from the game's main menu. Board the nearby boat and look down to the left. Pull the ankh lever towards you. Turn around and look down, then push the ankh lever here away from you. Now turn the crank here 3 times - an Ixupi will jump up and attack you (this is unavoidable). Turn the crank once more to reach the opposite shore.
Break open the pot on the ground to see Windlenot's ghost - you cannot pick up or use this pot. Follow the long blue corridor behind the pot and you will eventually reach an elevator with a security camera. Open the box to the right and solve the first elevator puzzle. As indicated by the design on the elevator doors, you need to get the lion heads to line up from top right to bottom left. You do this by sliding the pieces with the arrows. Open the elevator doors and get inside, then press the button to go up.
Exploring the Museum
Walk straight out of the elevator into Professor Windlenot's office. Read the newspaper in the coat hanging on the coat stand. Look at the map on the wall near the desk, and note the coordinates that are circled: 75W, 20N. Also read the newspaper clipping pinned to the map. Go around to the back of the desk. Open the top right drawer and read the note inside. Close this drawer, then open the drawer below it and take the Ash Ixupi Lid. Look up at the top of the desk and read the scrapbook, then play the tape to listen to a recorded message. Go over towards the fireplace, then head through the door on the right into a workshop.
Go to the small set of 12 drawers on the far left. Open the drawers highlighted in green on the layout below:
Now turn the key, and an Ixupi Pot/Lid will be revealed in the cupboard below. Just write down the pictograph you can see on the pot (pick it up and look at it to see this clearly) or a description of the lid, then put it back so you can get it later; if you manage to find a matching pot and lid combination, they will automatically combine when you pick them up. Head back out of this room.
Lift up the bottom of the tapestry straight ahead, then go through to find another elevator. Look to the right and solve another elevator puzzle. Open the elevator doors and get inside, then press the button to go up. Once you get out, turn right and go through the door ahead.
Go to the desk and read the journal, then look at the clock on the nightstand next to the bed and note the time: 5:30. Leave the bedroom and return to the elevator, solving a harder puzzle this time. Get inside and press the button to go down. Step out of the elevator and go beneath the tapestry again.
Turn around to the left and go through the door next to the tapestry.
Turn left immediately and open the blue animal head on the wall to find another Ixupi Pot/Lid to write down. Turn around, then go up a few steps and through another wooden door.
Walk around and look at the bookshelves - you will find one that has a green book tilted slightly to the side. Read this book "Black Book", as well as the orange book "In Search of the Unexplained", and the yellow book "South American Pictographs". This last book is extremely important, as it shows you the symbols from each of the pots you will find in the game. Also read the purple book on the shelf below "Mythology of the Stars".
Turn around and approach the bookshelf directly opposite. Open the cupboard below and look inside - there may be another Ixupi Pot/Lid inside here. Go over to the opposite side of the room. Move the ladder then climb up it to the top. Pull the largest book and a statue will rotate, likely revealing another Ixupi Pot/Lid. Climb back down the ladder then go through the gap in the bookshelves. Turn left and look at the red lipstick on the floor. Turn left again and solve another elevator puzzle. Enter the elevator and look at the message on the right wall, then get back out again.
Turn right and walk along the corridor, looking at the items on the ground: Beth's school ID, a note and a student progress report. Turn left at the end and go down the stairs, then open the handbag you find on the ground. Read the blue journal inside and note down the diagram labeled "red door". Go back upstairs and out through the library to the main hall.
Head forward and down some steps to a golden door with a purple star. Click on the star, then four symbols will be revealed. Examine "Egyptian Hieroglyphics Explained" in your Flashbacks and find the series of four symbols showing the cardinal directions. Swap the small tiles around to recreate the hieroglyphics for these four directions, and the door will open. Go through.
Walk down to the left side of the stage, then up the stairs and around to the left to eventually reach the projection room. Go to the projector on the left and turn the top reel 5 times. Press the green button (it used to be red) and watch the movie, paying attention to how Professor Windlenot opens the door at the end. Leave the projection room and go back to the blue corridors; this time approach the wooden door straight ahead and look at the circular device on it. Spin the circles to spell out the name "Geoffrey" on the right side. Go through the door.
Go up the spiral staircase, then climb the ladder. Turn around and break open the pot on the ground to see Beth's ghost. Next go over to the blue jukebox. Press B2, then press the red button to display the song "Anansi the Spider". Now look at the camera console to the left. Press the button beneath the left middle screen on the left side, then hit the play button. Move the camera around to see the message "Beth - Ramta Boba Taramba".
Next press the button beneath the bottom left screen on the left side, then hit the play button. Look at the time displayed on the clock - you need to somehow adjust this to 5:30, the time you saw earlier. Climb back down the ladder and go half way down the stairs to find some chains on the left. Pulling the second chain moves the clock forward 7 hours. Pulling the fourth chain moves the clock forward 5 minutes. Adjust the time and go back upstairs to check it on the monitor again. When you have the time correctly set to 5:30, the mouth of a golden statue will open at the top of the ladder. Inside you will find another Ixupi Pot/Lid.
Climb down the ladder and staircase, then return to the theatre.
Go up on to the right side of the stage. Look at the note from Merrick to Beth which has been left on the lectern. Look further ahead on the right to find an Ixupi Pot/Lid.
Turn right and find a large stone fountain with no water in it. Examine the stone at the base and it will open. Turn the faucet and the fountain will start running. Now around and cross the room to find some red doors with an orange circle in the middle - go through these doors.
Examine the inhaler on the floor. Read the plaques on each of the exhibits. Climb a ladder near the green door to find some huge eggs. There may be an Ixupi Pot/Lid here. Climb down the ladder and go through the green door.
Walk left, forward and left. Find another Ixupi Pot/Lid hanging amongst the other items here. Leave this room, then go back through Strange Beasts and through the other red door.
Mysteries of the Deep
Look at all the plaques on the exhibits down in this separate room. Examine the globe being held by the large green statue. Adjust the globe to show the coordinates you found back in the office: 75W, 20N. Look inside the raised container on the floor to find an Ixupi Pot/Lid as well as some blueprints for the museum. Head back out to the main hall.
Go to the desk at the base of the main stairs. Open the drawer and examine the Museum Brochure inside. Now head upstairs and through the first door.
Tombs & Curses
Walk around to the right to find the Sphinx. Press the button on its front to hear a recorded message. Turn around to see 2 columns with hieroglyphs on them. Examine "Egyptian Hieroglyphics Explained" in your flashbacks and look at pages 6 and 7. Set the 2 columns to these symbols, then look inside the open sarcophagus to find an Ixupi Pot/Lid.
Go back out to the main part of this room and go up the straight staircase. Open the panel at the top to find a new puzzle. Click on the tiles here to spin them around, with the goal being to connect the 3 circles at the top with the 3 circles at the bottom. Once you are done, head through the doors.
Go down the stairs, then search the floor in the new room to find Merrick's notebook. Open up the lion statue standing over the notebook to find his body. Open up the base of the display case opposite and take out a solitaire puzzle. The initial layout is as follows:
Your goal is to remove all of the red circles except one, by jumping over other pieces into empty spaces. One solution is as follows:
Look inside the new opened compartment in the base of this display case for another Ixupi Pot/Lid. Turn left and go through the blue doors to a new area.
Approach the statue of the Shaman and take the mallet from his hand. Remembering the message you saw in the camera earlier, "Beth - Ramta Boba Taramba", hit the drums in this order: Ram-Ta-Bo-Ba-Ta-Ram-Ba. Return the mallet to the Shaman and a new door will open. Head through.
Gods & Religious Items
Read all the plaques as you walk through this area, and you will eventually reach a harp. Press the blue button and the next puzzle will begin. Just repeat the notes that are played on the harp - initially this will be a sequence of 3 notes, and you will work your way up to a sequence of 12 notes. Look inside the open bull statue to find another Ixupi Pot/Lid. Turn around and leave this small room, then go straight ahead to the red doors. Open the panel on the wall to the left to see a jigsaw puzzle made up of pentominoes. The pattern you need to recreate can be seen in the flashback item "Beth's address book". After you have solved the puzzle, go through the open doors.
Myths & Legends
Turn left and search the backpack for some photos and a book called "Ancient Astrology". Turn around and examine the spider music box. Turn the handle on the right, and assuming you set the jukebox to the correct song earlier, an Ixupi Pot/Lid will be revealed. Turn left and open the standing sarcophagus against the wall to find another Ixupi Pot/Lid. Continue through the next two rooms, reading all of the plaques, and you will end up in a plain grey corridor. Turn left and enter the janitor's closet. Turn around to look at the toilet and you may find another Ixupi Pot/Lid. There is also one partially covered by a red sheet at the other end of the room, but it is currently guarded by an Ixupi, so you cannot get it yet. Leave this room and go up the staircase to the left.
Approach the big wheel on the wall and open the central compartment to reveal your next puzzle. Examine the flashback item "In Search of the Unexplained" and you will see 4 symbols associated with each of 3 locations. Assign the correct symbols in the puzzle for all 4 locations, and the top of the spaceship will open. Look inside to find an Ixupi Pot/Lid. After examining all of the plaques, go through the other door leaving this room.
Approach the pyramid and touch the front of it to open a secret passage. Go down the stairs on the left. Once you are in the blue passage, turn right and you will find a wooden door. Turn left to see a jigsaw puzzle with 12 rotating pieces. Solve this by swapping pieces, and when you have them swapped you can rotate them. Once you are done, go through the open door. Turn right and examine the fortune teller machine; pick up the coin and put it in the slot to get the following fortune: "Earth must be aligned with Love and War, then from below you'll discover more". Turn around and break open the pot on the ground to see Merrick's ghost.
Go back out to the blue corridors. Explore all of the gold corridors that you find until you discover a wooden panel that you can slide across to reveal a secret passage. Leave this open but don't go through for now. Head back to the Strange Inventions room.
Go to the end of the room and open the massive crate to reveal a machine. Click on the octagon at the top right and solve the puzzle here - you need to rotate and place the 9 puzzle pieces to match all the colored rope segments, from the following starting position:
Spin the pieces as needed, then place the pieces in these positions:
- Piece 8 in Position E
- Piece 5 in Position B
- Piece 9 in Position C
- Piece 7 in Position G
- Piece 2 in Position H
- Piece 1 in Position A
- Piece 4 in Position D
- Piece 3 in Position F
- Piece 6 in Position I
The segment of the machine will open, revealing an Ixupi Pot/Lid. Turn around and go through the wooden door.
Man's Inhumanity to Man
Examine the plaques, but don't get too close to the electric chair yet. Climb up to the top of the gallows and set the dials to 120 (number of inches in 10 feet). Pull the large lever, then climb down to find another Ixupi Pot/Lid. Climb back up, then down the gallows and between some cages to find another red door to head through.
Walk around the corner and read the plaque for the Phoenician Puzzle - this is essentially a game of "Mastermind" with 5 symbols and 7 options. Once you are successful, open the new door that appears below the game and go through to the next room. Make your way through a confusing passage to eventually find a puzzle with 8 balls in 9 boxes:
There are 2 paddles beneath each of the boxes, which can be used to hit the balls. Your goal is to get each of the balls to their corresponding boxes. Follow these steps:
- Right paddle at box 4 (blue ball to clear)
- Right paddle at box 7 (pink ball to green)
- Right paddle at box 8 (purple ball to purple)
- Left paddle at box 5 (blue ball to pattern)
- Right paddle at box 4 (pink ball to clear)
- Left paddle at box 1 (green ball to green)
- Right paddle at box 2 (red ball to red)
- Right paddle at box 3 (pattern ball to tan)
- Right paddle at box 6 (tan ball to yellow)
- Right paddle at box 9 (yellow ball to blue)
- Left paddle at box 8 (blue ball to pink)
- Left paddle at box 5 (pink ball to tan)
- Left paddle at box 2 (pattern ball to clear)
- Right paddle at box 3 (tan ball to tan)
- Right paddle at box 6 (yellow ball to yellow)
- Right paddle at box 9 (blue ball to blue)
- Left paddle at box 8 (pink ball to pink)
- Left paddle at box 5 (pattern ball to pattern)
Go through the man-shaped doorway and look at another Ixupi Pot/Lid on the ground here. Go back through the Puzzle Room and Man's Inhumanity to Man.
Enter the pyramid again and go back to the gold corridors. Find the secret passage you opened earlier and head through.
Tombs & Curses
Go out through the golden door.
Descend the main staircase to the ground floor, then go over the small bridge and through the red door with orange circle.
Head down to the lower section on the right.
Mysteries of the Deep
Approach the pipe organ on the right at the back of the room. Press the button on the plaque about Sirens to listen to their tune. Now turn towards the pipe organ, which has 7 keys you can press:
Press the keys in this order: 1, 6, 5, 1, 6, 5, 7, 4, 2, 1. Go through the new passage and you will find a large stone doorway at the end.
Remembering the movie you saw where Windlenot opened a door like this, press the following parts in this order: 6, 1, 9, 3, 4, 6, 4. Head through the doorway.
There is quite an extensive maze down here. If you go exploring, you will find a river of tar that you cannot cross, as you are stopped by the Tar Ixupi. On the other side you can see an Ixupi Pot/Lid but you cannot collect it yet. For now, turn around and return to the museum.
Capturing the Ixupi
Now that you have explored almost the entire game, you need to capture 9 of the Ixupi - you need to save the remaining Electricity Ixupi for the end.
You should have hopefully kept track of where all the various pots and lids have been distributed throughout the game, and can now collect the matching pots and lids, then use them to capture the Ixupi. To capture the Ixupi, go to its location and use your pot/lid combination on its hiding spot before it can attack you.
Notes: Once you capture the Cloth Ixupi, you can grab the Ixupi Pot/Lid from beneath the red cloth in the janitor's closet near Myths & Legends. Once you capture the Tar Ixupi, you can grab the Ixupi Pot/Lid from the Subterranean World (and then continue forward to escape through a secret passage back to the Main Hall).

Completing the Game
Go and collect the last known Ixupi Pot, which should be for the Electricity Ixupi. Now you have probably noticed a series of skull dials scattered around the museum. You need to review the "Museum Brochure" in your flashbacks, and pay attention to the colored skulls. There are 6 skull dials that you need to set to these colors now:
- Strange Beasts - Blue
- Funeral Rites - Blue
- Myths & Legends - Red
- Subterranean World - Yellow
- Tombs & Curses - Green
- Gods & Religious Items - Red
After this head back down to the Main Hall, then enter the Library.
Go through the gap in the bookshelves, then turn right and follow the passages all the way down to the Power Plant.
Look around to the left to find an open fuse box (this will have been closed until you captured 9 of the Ixupi). Flip the middle red switch twice, then examine the body to find the missing page from "Egyptian Hieroglyphics Explained". Now head all the way up to the 3rd floor.
Man's Inhumanity to Man
Approach the guillotine, and touch the small lever to the right of the blade to activate it - note the eye symbol on the blade.
Go to the far end of the puzzle room. If you have set all the skull dials correctly, you will now be able to turn the skeleton dial here, then press the button in the middle. Enter the new room and press the large eye button on the wall. You will go down a huge slide and end up back in the Main Hall.
Pick up the final Electrical Ixupi Lid, then go back downstairs to the power plant. Enter the generator room and capture the Electrical Ixupi in the sparks.
