Tales of the Neon Sea is a cyberpunk adventure set in Starlight City, a place where humans and AI robots rely on each other for survival. You play as Rex, a retired detective who becomes entangled in a massive conspiracy, beginning with a simple murder in an alley. There are 58 Steam Achievements, all documented in the walkthrough below.

What's Past is Prologue

Chased by the Past

Get up and immediately run to the right - you will jump down the waterfall to escape the reaper. You will automatically get a note on radioactive fungus (News 1/14). Go right and a rat will run off with your hat. Continue up the stairs to the right and you will see a series of levers and wheels. Activate them in this order:

  1. Pull the second lever
  2. Pull the first lever
  3. Turn the wheel to the right of the 2 levers
  4. Go past the waterfall and pull the right lever

Now you can pick up your hat. Go through the door on the right into a repair room. Search the lockers on the right to find a book (News 2/14) and some electrical scissors. Now head to the left until you meet William. Continue to the far left and search the lockers to find a multi-function screwdriver. Go back and examine the machine just to the left of the door. Examine the other 3 parts of the machine. Go to the right and use your multi-function screwdriver on the broken robot to get a mechanical ankle component.

Leave the repair room and William will kill a cyborg rat. Go and examine it (News 3/14). Return towards the left and use your multi-function screwdriver on another broken robot to get a mechanical wrist component. Go left until William enters the tunnels.

William on the Hunt

Playing as William, you need to catch 3 cyborg rats. This is the easiest way of achieving this:

  • Go through the round hole at the left of 1F to reach 4F
  • Go through the square hole at the left of 4F to reach 3F
  • Head right to catch the first cyborg rat
  • Go through the square hole at the left of 3F to reach 4F
  • Jump over the platform on the right to scare the cyborg rat, then jump back again
  • Go through the square hole at the left of 4F to reach 3F
  • Go through the diamond hole at the left of 3F to reach the right of 3F
  • Head left to catch the second cyborg rat
  • Go through the diamond hole at the right of 3F to reach the left of 3F
  • Go through the square hole at the left of 3F to reach 4F
  • Go through the round hole at the left of 4F to reach 1F
  • Go through the broken gate at the left of 1F to reach 2F
  • Jump over the platform on the right to scare the cyborg rat
  • Jump down to 1F via the platforms on the right
  • Head right to catch the final cyborg rat Capture Expert

Back with Rex, go left and use your electrical scissors on the green cable. Go all the way to the right again and through the door to the repair room. Examine the right part of the machine, and put the mechanical ankle and wrist components here. Examine the second part of the machine (from the left) and use your cable to replace the broken one here. Now go to the far left part of the machine, where you need to swap the positions of the power sources. The shortest solution is:

  1. Swap positions 2 and 3
  2. Swap positions 3 and 4
  3. Swap positions 1 and 5

Now use the third part of the machine (from the left) All Eggs in One Basket.

Chapter 1: The Thread Unravels

A Day Like Any Other

Get up and go through your diagnostic scan results, and you will automatically get information about Rex (Character Files 1/12). Head to the bookshelf to the far left and search it to find an Electronic Artificial Arm Application (Life 1/8). Next go right past the closed bathroom door and look at the poster of The Eye of Horus on the wall (Notes 2/8). Continue to the far right and search your dining table to find a news article (Starlight City 1/12). Head through the right doorway, then go upstairs to the workshop.

Take the distribution box key from just to the right of the door. Try going further to the right, but you won't venture into the dark. Go back through the doorway.

Just to the left you will see an electrical distribution box on the wall. Use your key to unlock this, then examine it to see a puzzle. Turn the bottom-right knob 3 times, then the bottom-left knob, and finally the bottom-right knob again. Head upstairs to the workshop again.

Go to the right, and you will realize there is a cat stuck in the suit of armor. Go back downstairs and through the doorway, then go through the left door into your bathroom. Take the claymore (large sword) from the left, then leave again. Go back through the right door and upstairs to the workshop. Use the claymore on the suit of armor William!. You will automatically get information about William (Character Files 3/12). Examine the suit of armor once more (News 4/14).

Talk to BB-X (Character Files 2/12), then use the terminal he attaches to. Continue further left and look at the book on the floor about The Human Robot War (History 1/12). Return to the right, and examine the chart next to the suit of armor, where you will also find a code reference table (Notes 1/8). Looking at the second note in your saved files, you will see a series of 4 numbers: 7322. Use the first note to convert this into a series of symbols, then examine the keypad just to the left:

With this layout, press buttons 0433. Search the open locker to get a component assembly tool. Leave this room, then go down the stairs to the ground floor. Go through the door just to the left into the living room. Examine the trophy over the fireplace (Life 2/8). Continue left and talk to William on the sofa, then search the bookshelf on the left for a book about Genetic Technology and Genetic Disease (History 2/12). Try to reach the AED box on top of the bookshelf. Go back and talk to William, and offer to take him out for a walk. Go and pick up the SuDragon XIII Processor. Go through the curtains into the kitchen.

Go to the right and use your component assembly tool on the washing machine to get the Decoder-74155N. Now go all the way back up to the workshop and use the Processor and Decoder on BB-X. Now use the terminal to the left. You need to match all 3 waveforms, by selecting a waveform, then adjusting the 3 dials:

  • Waveform 1: Set dials to 2, 3, 4
  • Waveform 2: Set dials to 1, 4, 2
  • Waveform 3: Set dials to 3, 1, 3

Now you will automatically reboot BB-X "The Best Host". Go all the way downstairs and through the door on the far left.

William's Tip-Off

You will automatically get some information on Bell Tower Avenue (Starlight City 2/12). Go right and talk to Liu, then look at the anti-robot propaganda posters (History 3/12). Continue further to the right and enter the repair shop. Examine the front counter, then Morax will appear (Character Files 4/12). Examine the big robot to the right (News 5/14), then look at the parts stand to the far left before leaving.

William will bring you a piece of blood-stained cloth. Follow him to the left. Just after going down the steps, look at the animated poster on the Dragon building (Starlight City 3/12). Continue left and talk to William, then follow him into the alley.

Murder in the Alleyway

Follow William right and search the trash bags (Character Files 5/12). There are a total of 10 things to investigate on the screen with the body:

  • PI Skills: Right forehead, left elbow, left hand, right foot
  • Cyborg Skills: Right forehead, left cheek, neck, right arm, left hand, left leg

Now you should be able to combine 4 sets of clues, then combine 5 inferences. Examine the red dumpster just to the right - drag it right until it is beneath the flickering light. Now go back and examine the ground where you found it. Now examine the footprints on the ground outside the green doorway, and the dumpster with the sleeping cat. Pick up the cat food from the ground to the left of the body, then go and give it to the sleeping cat so that it will move. Now you can examine the dent in this dumpster.

Combine the clues by placing the various gears in the pocket-watch so they all spin Back Alley Murder Case. You will automatically get your first case file (Case 1/11), and Royde will appear (Character Files 6/12). With Royde following you, go right until you can talk to Alice. Go through the green doorway.

Tea for Two

Look at the poster on the wall (Starlight City 4/12), before entering the elevator. Go up to the 3rd floor, then head left to Apartment 303. Try to open the door, then you will start to pick the lock. This is one solution:

  1. Turn inside 3 times, turn outside 3 times, move left twice
  2. Turn inside 3 times, move down twice and right
  3. Turn inside 3 times, turn outside once, move up twice
  4. Turn inside once, move left, down, left and up
  5. Turn inside twice, turn outside 3 times, move right twice and down
  6. Turn inside 3 times, move up, right and up

You will automatically enter the apartment. Now go over and find 7 things to investigate on the robot:

  • PI Skills: Bow tie, right hand, left hand, right foot
  • Cyborg Skills: Right eye, right arm, left foot

Now you should be able to combine 2 sets of clues, then combine 3 inferences. You will get another case file (Case 2/11). Examine the blood on the couch, then the tea set on the coffee table. Further to the right, find 4 things to investigate on the candlestick:

  • PI Skills: Candle, dripping wax, bird
  • Cyborg Skills: Candlestick stem

Now you should be able to combine 1 set of clues, then combine 3 inferences. Talk to Royde, then go over near the robot again. Look at the 4 colored banners over the window (purple, green, orange, red), then go through the door here. Examine the cat paintings over the dining table. When you touch them, they light up in a certain color. You need to light them up in the same order as the banners over the window (5 cats, 2 cats, 1 cat, 4 cats). Behind the painting that slides up, take the gift for Jenny and an exquisite small key.

Return through the door to the living room. Search the bookcase on the far right, and use your exquisite small key to unlock the diary (Case 3/11). Read the diary entry and note the date (2128-04-21). Return to the kitchen and examine the fridge, which needs a code. Press the ! button to see a hint about "days that will not be forgotten". Now enter the date from the diary 0421. Examine the entry for October 19.

Combine the clues by placing the various gears in the pocket-watch so they all spin The First Crime Scene. You will automatically get your next case file (Case 4/11). Leave the apartment and talk to Royde.

Return into the apartment and examine the robot again. Remove the outer shell by opening all 4 latches. Now click on the 8 pieces in the second level so they can slide apart without being interlocked (start from the top and work down). For the third stage, just move down, left, up 3 times and left. Examine the implanted equipment (Case 5/11).

Go right to talk to Weaving and Jenny. Give Jenny her gift Mental Crime. You will automatically learn more about Jenny (Character Files 7/12). Outside, Royde will suggest meeting up later (Starlight City 5/12). Walk right to talk to William.

William's Detective Odyssey

Go through the square hole to the right. Head to the right and examine the control box to see it is missing its lever. Continue right through another square hole. Talk to Martin, then go through the red window.

Talk to Rocco and Fred, then talk to Tom and agree to answer his questions with these answers:

  1. An artist.
  2. "Each cat has their own destiny."
  3. Fitcher family.

You will receive a lever. Go right, but Spike will stop you (News 6/14). Look at the poster on the wall and note the colored hair. Now head back outside through the window. Go through the square hole on the right, then use your lever on the control box. Pull the lever to lower a platform. Head up the ramp to the left, then jump on to the platform, and further up to the left. Knock over the fishbowl, and the water will short out the power box below. Jump down to this level, and go left until you can head through a square hole.

Go right and Falkenburg will stop you, telling you to change the neon lights to match the colors of Miss Anna. Remembering the poster, change the lights to be red, yellow and green. Now you can jump on to the platform, then off again at the top. Go through the red window.

Head right and accept the mission from Vigo Bourbon. Continue right and talk to Connie, then play the piano with her. If you number the notes 1-6 from left to right, play 311542 then 644531. Pick up the small ball as a reward, then head back out through the window. Go right and use the elevator to go down, then talk to Martin. Head through the red window here. Go right and talk to Tessio, but he won't come out. Go through the window on the right.

Outside again, jump down to the right, then go through the square hole on the left. Jump down over the platforms on the left, then pull the levers on control boxes 01 and 02. Now jump down over the platforms so you can reach another red window with an awning over it. Inside, read a book on the left (History 4/12). To the far right, take some catnip. Now jump up on the bookshelf and read a book here (Notes 3/8). Keep jumping up and head through the vent above the bookshelf. Go through 2 square holes, then jump over the platforms to the left. Pick up the tinfoil unicorn from next to the sleeping worker. Jump back to the right, then go through the square hole. Pull the lever on the control box to reset the platforms.

Go through the square hole, then left over the platforms and down. Pull the levers on control boxes 01 and 02 again. Jump down over the platforms and examine the blue tarp to discover Paulie. Talk to him, then test him with the tinfoil unicorn. Now go through the square hole to the left. Jump down to the right and go through the square hole. Go up the ramp to the right, then jump up to the left and enter through the balcony.

Go left and give the small ball to Fred (the orange cat). Now you can use your catnip on the red barrel. Wait a bit, then take the freshly baked catnip. Go right and give this to Tessio to get him to come out. Now test him with the tinfoil unicorn. Leave through the left window, then go up in the elevator and through the red window. Talk to Bradsey, then test him with the tinfoil unicorn. Now look up at the boss and test him with the tinfoil unicorn Biomechanical God Father. Once Bradsey leaves, press the button that was behind him, then take Joystick 03.

Return outside and go down in the elevator to the right, then talk to Martin Friendship of the Bourbon Family. Enter the window here, then leave via the right window. Jump down and pull the lever on the control box to reset the platforms again. Go through the square hole, then left over the platforms and down. Use Joystick 03 on control box 03. Now pull the levers on control boxes 01, 02 and 03. Jump all the way down and go through the square hole at the bottom. Talk to the Fortune Teller through the strange doorway, then search the books on the ground to the right (History 5/12) The Creator.

Jump up to the right and go through the square hole, then continue right past Spike and through another square hole.

Head right to talk to the green cat (History 6/12). Return left and jump up to the platforms above. Cut the cable, which will knock down the sign. Climb back down again and pick up the bloody candlestick William the Holmes.

Back as Rex again, go right and try to enter the repair shop, but it is closed. Just to the left, use the taxi sign to take a taxi to the bar.

Reunion at The Fantasy Jellyfish

Go to the far left and talk to the group of characters just to the right of the bathroom (History 8/12). Now talk to the man sitting at the far left table and agree to play his game. You need to beat him in 3 out of 5 games of blackjack, but can retry this as many times as necessary Black Jack. For winning, you will receive some more information (History 9/12).

Now go to the bar and talk to Royde, then Xun will come out. After talking, go left into the bathroom. Wash your hands in front of the mirror. Talk to the robot here, Brayden, then help the drunk woman on the floor Gentleman. Return out to the bar by going through the door on the left.

Return to the right and talk to Green Hair Mike, then go through the Staff door just to the left of the bar. Head through the green door to the left into the wine cellar.

Look at the cross stitch in the shelving to the right of the large monkey mask. Next examine the monkey mask and click on the teeth to retract them as seen in the cross stitch:

Next you can take the home-brewed white wine from the shelves just to the right. Put this into the hole to the right of the door, then take the bronze key. Note the series of 3 numbers that appear above the right green torch (11, 04, 09). Examine the clock to the right, and set the 3 clock hands to the numbers you just saw:

  • Red: XI
  • Yellow: IV
  • Green: IX

Now you can take the Evenac-VSOP from the shelves to the right. Continue right and use the bronze key on the locked drawer to see three ripped playing cards (12, 09, 05). Return to the clock and set the 3 clock hands again:

  • Red: XII
  • Yellow: IX
  • Green: V

Now take the next bottle of wine from the shelves. Go to the shelves on the far left, and put the Prancing Creek bottle in the 2119 slot, then put the Evenac-VSOP bottle in the 4 slot. Note the series of 3 numbers with empty slots in the bottom row (03, 05, 07). Go back to the clock once more and set the 3 clock hands again:

  • Red: III
  • Yellow: V
  • Green: VII

Grab yet another bottle of wine from the shelves to the right. Go to the shelves on the far left, and put your new bottle in the slot between 2119 and 2131. You will end up taking an empty brandy bottle. Go and use this on the barrels to the far right to fill it up, then return to the shelves on the far left and put the bottle in the empty slot at the top right. This will reveal a puzzle with the following starting appearance:

Based on this, click on bottles in the follow order to swap their positions: 5, 3, 2, 4, 6, 7, 5, 3, 1, 2, 4, 6, 5, 3, 4. Go down the stairs, then head right towards the TV screens (History 7/12). Leave the cellar and return to the bar. Now talk to Royde at the bar again Get Drunk.

Chapter 2: The Guide is Gone

The Art of the Hangover Cure

Look at the bookshelf to the far left (Life 3/8). Search the small fridge to the right, then go through the door here into the bathroom. Go to the far right and open the locker, then search it (Life 4/8). Leave the bathroom and go through the open doorway to the hallway. Continue past the stairs to the right, and search the notice board on the wall to find the sobering drug recipe (Notes 4/8).

Go downstairs and enter the living room. Go over to the "Wanted" poster on the wall and search the pot beneath it to see the herbs are missing. Go further left and look at the photo in the bookshelf (Life 5/8). Next head through the doorway here into the kitchen. Talk to Falkenburg on the right, but you will need to find food to wake him up. Go back to the living room and pick up some cat food from the floor in front of the fireplace. Go to the kitchen once more and give the cat food to Falkenburg Greedy Cat. Now you can take the worry-free herb.

Leave here and go up both sets of stairs. Go right past the suit of armor and look at the display here (Life 7/8). Head left past BB-X and use the chemistry lab. Referring back to the sobering drug recipe in your notes, follow these steps:

  1. Use the mortar and pestle, adding the worry-free herb
  2. Use the mortar and pestle, creating powdered worry-free herb
  3. Use the flask, adding the powdered worry-free herb and the normal saline
  4. Use the flask, creating a worry-free herb blending agent
  5. Use the flask, adding the powder E and solvent M
  6. Use the flask, creating an EX mixture
  7. Use the burner, adding the worry-free herb blending agent and EX mixture
  8. Use the burner, finishing the sobering drug

You will automatically drink the drug Bottoms Up. You will receive a phone call, a text message, and then a parcel. Open the parcel, and investigate the mysterious object inside. Choose to finish up at home, then look on the ground to the left to find a medical report (Life 6/8). Also examine the large notice board to the right of BB-X (Case 9/11). Now you can go downstairs and leave.

The Faded Charm of Morning Light Street

Head right and enter the repair shop. Talk to Morax, then go back outside. Head just to the left and examine the Bus Station, then select to wait for a shuttle bus.

All Roads Lead to Underbridge

Talk to the robot Sven, and agree to help him. Go left and climb down the ladder, then talk to Ben. Next head to the far right and climb up the cargo net. Take the spring, then climb up the ladder and examine the Violence Tromper head (News 7/14). You will receive an achievement as long as you also have the 5th news item War Machine. Climb back down and examine the large machine to the left. Press the red buttons in the order indicated below:

Drag the lever to the left. After Ben yells at you, climb up the new ladder to the left and take the u-type magnet. Climb back down and go to the left to take the large flashlight from where Ben was working earlier. Now use the work table here. Combine the u-type magnet and spring to make a magnetic nozzle. Combine the magnetic nozzle and large flashlight to make a magnetic gun. Climb back up to where you found the u-magnet, and use your magnetic gun to get the scavenger's arm. Return up the large ladder.

Give the arm back to Sven, and he will give you a white passcard Reward. Go right and talk to the custom official, then continue through the security checkpoint. Head right and your wallet will be stolen. Run into the next elevator that arrives, and take it down.

Guidance from Old Charles

Follow the thief to the left, then look down the alley he enters. Return right to meet Charles (Character Files 8/12), who will also tell you about Brank (Character Files 11/12). Go right past the elevator and talk to Oroema/Mario and agree to help him (choose to read it secretly if you want). Examine the large statue just to the right (Starlight City 6/12). Climb up the ladder here and take the safety rope.

Climb back down and go right to find a broken water system. Talk to the kind gang member to the right, and agree to try repairing it. Examine it to see the separator is broken. Return left and enter Charles' shop. Use the assembly station, and examine all of the blueprints. Back out and grab the lasergun fire controller just to the left, and a reformed turbine engine and crowbar further to the left. Go to the far right and open the device so you can take out an accumulator.

Leave the shop and use your crowbar on the electroplated metal plate just to the right. Now go just left of the shop and use your safety rope on the broken ladder, then climb down. Pick up the abandoned mini vacuum cleaner from just left of the toilet. Further left, use your accumulator on the broken-down truck to charge it - one of the lights is missing. Go further left and use your crowbar on the truck tire, and you will remove the rim.

Climb back up and return into Charles' shop. Use the assembly station, and bring up the Transforming Billy blueprint. Use this to combine your abandoned mini vacuum cleaner and lasergun fire controller, then pick up the Transforming Billy. Go back outside, then go right and climb the ladder in front of the statue. Use your Transforming Billy on the ruby to turn it into a Laser Billy Goblin of the Forest.

Return down to the truck and put your Laser Billy in the missing light slot. Use it again to see that it shoots at the toilet. Put your rim on the toilet, then use the Laser Billy once more. Now go and pick up the semi-arc metal.

Climb back up and return into Charles' shop. Use the assembly station, and bring up the Soul Separator blueprint. Use this to combine your reformed turbine engine, electroplated metal plate and semi-arc metal, then pick up the Soul Separator. Go back outside, then go right and use the Soul Separator on the broken water system The Age of Draught. You will automatically get some more information (Notes 5/8).

Go through the doorway here to reach the level below. Continue right and enter the glowing orange street.

Brank! The Missing Robot

You will get some information on Miracle Street (Starlight City 7/12). Talk to the fortune teller just to the right Destiny (Notes 6/8). Go right to see that William is here, then continue right and try to talk to Kanon (the large hologram on the bridge). Examine the circuit box just left of the bridge. Rearrange the right connectors so matching colors are paired over the wires:

Now talk to Kanon. Next go right and talk to Francesca, standing beneath a green awning - agree to help her. Go down the stairs to the left, and search beneath the stairs to find a broken massage stick. Continue down another set of stairs then go left to find Lola (Character Files 9/12) and Robin (Character Files 10/12). Go left over the bridge and talk to Aoide. Open the electrical box just to the left - pick the lock by lifting up each tumbler until its spring shakes. Disable the display, then talk to Aoide again and she will go back to work.

Continue left and pick up the deep learning processor from the trash. Talk to the people outside the noodle shop (Starlight City 8/12). Return right over the bridge and talk to the security robot guarding the elevator. Use the elevator.

Go left past the waterfall and talk to Melete. Try to go left, but a gangster guard will stop you, so climb down the ladder instead. Grab the high-efficiency battery here, then walk right to the universal clock (Starlight City 10/12). Unfortunately you cannot access the control box without a tool.

Climb back up, then go right past the elevator. Find a cosmetic melt gun in the trash, then return left to a workbench. Use this to combine the cosmetic melt gun and broken massage stick - you will create an unpowered laser cutting device. Combine this with your high-efficiency battery to make a laser cutting device. Return down to the clock and use the laser cutting device on the control box. Examine the controls to see a puzzle:

Rotate these red knobs: 1, 1, 1, 3, 3, 9, 9, 9, 6, 5, 5. Climb back up and talk to the robots beneath the large rooster graffiti (Starlight City 9/12). Use the elevator to the left to reach level A3.

Go right and up the stairs, then talk to Mneme - answer her questions as follows:

  1. Because they're panting.
  2. No.
  3. No.

Mneme will now go back to work. Talk to Hideyoshi on the right, and deliver Mario's letter. Agree to help Hideyoshi, then go downstairs and through the doorway marked F2. Continue down the stairs and search the table on the right (Starlight City 12/12). Now go left through the doorway marked F1. Go left and use the automatic freight terminal (Starlight City 11/12). Use it again, then follow these steps:

  • Press the left button
  • Press the middle button 3 times
  • Press the left button
  • Press the middle button 3 times
  • Press the right button

Derrick will now leave Hideyoshi's Hero. Climb the ladder just to the right. Go up to the right and grab a 23.99K bridging goldfinger from the trash. Go back and talk to Hideyoshi. Make your way back up to A1 using the elevator on the left. Go to the far right and use the elevator to get down to level C3. Talk to Elliot to the left and wake him up VR Support (News 8/14). Go back up to C1 and go left past the waterfall. Talk to Melete again and she will go back to work.

Go right and use the main elevator. Go up both sets of stairs and talk to Francesca again - now she wants you to change the colors of the lights. Go down one set of stairs, and use the control panel on the wall here. Press the button to stop the color within the rooms to create the order of the rainbow:

All the windows will open again when they are correct Rainbow Club. Go back up and talk to Francesca again. Go down both sets of stairs and use the elevator. Go to the right and use the elevator here to reach level C4.

Go left into the Edward Clinic. Walk right and talk to Dr Edward. Further right, grab a book from a bookshelf (History 11/12). To the far right, behind a curtain, pick up the high dimension memory. Leave again and you will meet Nanco (Character Files 12/12), who will give you a Heaven passcard prototype. Go back up to level C1 and go left to see Blue collapse. Agree to help him, then go back down to C4 and into the Edward Clinic. Talk to Dr Edward, then talk to Luna. Go to the right and press the red button on the wall, then quickly go left and look at Brank's medical report (Case 7/11) - make sure you look at all 4 pages. Go back outside and up to level C1.

Go left past the waterfall and use the other elevator to get down to level A2. Go up the stairs to the right, then left and knock on door H7. To get inside you need to solve a puzzle where you need to go to every node, pass through the numbers in order, and not go over the same path. One solution is:

  • Right, down twice, right, up twice, right twice, down, left to 1
  • Down to 2

Inside Brank's home, look at the poster on the wall, and find a book in the far left bookshelf (History 10/12). Look at the dog on the floor. Now open the cupboard to the far right and find some dog food inside. Give the dog food to Ellie the dog. Next examine the floor in front of the large Noa symbol on the wall. Examine the charging device next to the bed to the left, and make sure you select every available option. Back out and examine the ejected liquid container (Case 6/11). Finally, examine the bed.

Combine the clues by placing the various gears in the pocket-watch so they all spin. Go and talk to Ellie and choose to follow her. Run right after her, then climb down the ladder and enter the pipe on the right. Continue right into the next pipe, then through the round portal marked E-1.

Tracks Uncovered

Follow the fluid to the left until you stop at a raised bridge. Return right towards the E-1 portal, then climb up the ladder. Go through the doorway to the right, then enter the Control Center to the left. Look at the blueprints on the wall (Notes 7/8). Take the high voltage battery from the control panel, and find a water turbine operation manual in the bookshelf to the left (Notes 8/8). Search the shelving on the right to get some insulated gloves. Now head back outside.

Jump left over the gap, then continue left and pick up the hose. Climb down the ladder to the left, then go right and use the platform to get to the level below. Examine the synthetic energy resource (large red box) just to the left, then push this on to the platform. Take the platform back up, then push the synthetic energy resource to the left into the loading chute. Use the automatic freight terminal, and follow these steps:

  • Press the left button
  • Press the middle button 2 times
  • Press the left button
  • Press the middle button 2 times
  • Press the right button

This will launch the synthetic energy resource over to the right. Take the platform down, then climb down 2 ladders. Head left until you knock on the wall and a switch is revealed. Go and use the switch to reveal a power generator. Head right and use your high voltage battery in the power compartment near the lowest raised bridge. Use the controls to lower this bridge. Cross over to the right, climb up the ladder and go through the doorway, then continue left to find the synthetic energy resource again. Attach your hose to it, then use the adjacent backup generator.

Go right and use the control panel to adjust the platforms just to the right. Step on the first platform and turn the red valve to power up a water wheel below. Continue to the next platform and go through the E-3 portal. Go left and search the trash to find a diary (News 9/14). Go back through the round portal, then left over the platforms and through the doorway. Climb down the ladder to be near the E-1 portal again.

Use the electrical panel just to the left and rotate it so it connects all 3 wires. Use the next electrical panel to the left and rotate it to align vertically. Now climb back up the ladder to the right and stand on the platform to the left. Press the button to float up in the air. Enter the left pipe to find a tomb. Go through the doorway, then turn the red valve on the right. Climb down the ladder and examine the corpse to find a key. Climb back up and go through the doorway, then exit the pipe. Enter the right pipe, then open the metal door with your key. Go through the door and examine the blue locker on the left. Pick the lock as you have done previously, and you will find another diary (News 10/14). Turn the large valve just to the right. Leave this room, then go through door A2. Head through the E-1 portal.

Use the electrical panel just to the left and rotate it to it connects only the bottom 2 wires. Use the next electrical panel to the left and rotate it to align horizontally. Now you can use the impeller tilt shaft control panel to fully power up the water wheel Abundant Power.

Adjust the switch immediately to the right so it diverts power down. Now use the electrical panel just to the left of the E-1 portal, rotating it to connect the top and left wires. Head left over the bridge you lowered earlier. Take the high voltage battery from just to the left of the bridge controls. Now go further to the left and use the hidden passage power generator - this will reveal the doorway to the hidden passage.

For now, return just to the right and use the electrical panel - rotate it to connect the left and top wires. Climb up both ladders and lower the bridge to the right. Cross over to the water wheel and take a second high voltage battery. Climb back down, then go right and through the E-1 portal. Continue through the A1 door to the right. Go through both pipe entrances, then put your 2 high-voltage batteries in the 2 statues. Go through another secret opening and try to take the sword The One. Make your way all the way back to the hidden passage and go through.

Examine the control panel on the large machine, and select options 1, 2 and then 3. Examine the bright orange liquid to the left, and you will take a sample. Exit through the door on the left. Head right until there is an explosion and you automatically leave (Case 8/11).

Give the sample of coagulation fluid to Charles. Talk to Nanco, Robin and Lola, then talk to Charles again. Use the assembly station, and bring up the God's Touch blueprint. Use this to combine your deep learning processor, bridging goldfinger and high dimension memory, then pick up the God's Touch. Go back outside Mist.

Golden Eyes in the Night

Go right and enter the vent to reach the workshop Level S BB-X. Speak to BB-X, then take the vent down to the bedroom. Go left and sleep in the bed Quiet Night.

Chapter 3: The Siren is a Fiend

Thirteen Years of Anticipation

Go right until you see Rex and BB-X watching TV and recalling an old case. Go right and Abel will enter the clean room. Continue right and examine the computer terminal. You will end up back in the workshop A Step Away. Go over to the recess that opens behind a picture and take your Glock 37 (Life 8/8).

After you automatically go to Underbridge, walk right to confront the angry mob, then agree to enter Underbridge District.

We Meet Again, Whispers of Death

Examine the statue to the right, then investigate the implanted equipment in Brank's head. In your hallucination, just follow Noa to the right Invitation. Now examine the statue again to find 9 things to investigate:

  • PI Skills: Top alloy plate, right hand, left lower shoulder, left lower elbow, torso skin, left knee
  • Cyborg Skills: Right upper elbow, left upper arm, middle head

Now you should be able to combine 4 sets of clues, then combine 4 inferences. Next examine the candles to the right of the ladder, to find 6 more things to investigate:

  • PI Skills: Robotic fluid at top right, powdery deposits at bottom left
  • Cyborg Skills: Footprint at left, footprint at right

Now you should be able to combine 2 sets of clues, then combine 2 inferences. Climb up the ladder and examine the clown mask. Climb back down and examine the ground to the left, then follow the marks to the elevator and take it up. Examine the controls to the right twice (to notice the controls and the timer), then examine the curtain as well. Follow the marks left and examine the yellow box, then the terminal to the left. Follow these steps to solve the terminal puzzle:

  1. Move the top blue box right, up, left and down.
  2. Move the green key left, down, left and up.

Take the elevator back down, then go left and enter Charles' shop. Examine the computer terminal on the desk (Case 10/11) Nano Mist. Search beneath the pillow on the bed to find an empty gun box. Combine the clues by placing the various gears in the pocket-watch so they all spin (Case 11/11) The Whisper of the Evil God.

Examine the poster on the wall to the right (History 12/12). Continue to the right.

Left or Right? Make a Choice

After William saves you, examine the destroyed drone (News 11/14). You need to avoid the security drones in the next section. Go right and examine the sign above you (without climbing up the ladder). Run to the right and pull the big lever down to activate the power. Run back to the left, and rotate the first and second switches to charge up the power cell above. Duck out and press the red button, and William will jump on to the platform. Press it again and he will jump further to the right. Now the power cell will end up over-charged. Press the red button one last time when the drone is near the power cell and it will explode.

Rotate the third and fourth switches to partially charge the elevator. Climb the ladder and take the high voltage battery from the power cell - this will now fully charge the elevator. Climb down the ladder and use the elevator to descend. Put your high voltage battery into the terminal on the right, then use the terminal and follow these steps:

  1. Move the left blue box up.
  2. Move the right blue box left and up.
  3. Move the left blue box right and up.
  4. Move the green key right, up, left and up.

Examine the trash to find a bomb. You need to switch between views of the wires and views of the circuit to disable the bomb. On the circuit view, find the end of circuit I, then switch to the wire view and trace the wire, cutting its colored end. Repeat this for circuits II, III and then IV. Try to solve this within 120 seconds Bomb Disposal Expert. Now examine the terminal again.

As William, go right and use the crane controls. Use these to perform these actions:

  1. Pick up the red crate and drop it on the green crate.
  2. Pick up the orange crate and drop it to the right.

You will have revealed a warehouse door Loader.

Go left and climb down the ladder. Examine the controls, then use them to stop the conveyor when there are 3 yellow crates beneath your platform. Quickly jump down to the right, then over the crates to get to the next ledge (while avoiding the drones). Climb down the next ladder and turn the red valve to the right. Return left and use the left blue terminal. Press the coolant button to set the gauge to 2, then wait as the two lower drones are destroyed. Now head to the far right and use the controls on the platform to go up.

Shoot the 3 leg joints on the large sentry robot. As William, use the crane controls again to lift up the robot. Now quickly shoot its eye 3 times Marksman. Jump over the gap and climb down the ladder. Examine the sentry robot (News 12/14) before going through the warehouse door.

Zeus, God of Lightning

Press the button to the left, and you will be tied to a chair. As William, you now have to quickly attune the 3 Tesla coils in this area to the frequencies being displayed on the large blue screens. Run left to find the first Tesla coil and use its dials to set the correct frequency, then press the red switch. Jump up near the purple robot and continue up to the left. Flip the A lever, then jump to the far right and adjust the second Tesla coil to the current displayed frequency. Jump back to the left, then down to the ground and go through the tunnel at the bottom left. Flip the B lever, then jump to the right and adjust the final Tesla coil to the current displayed frequency Do It Fast. Try to solve this within 120 seconds Magnetic Storm Kitten.

As Rex again, examine the large central Tesla coil (News 13/14). Go through the hole in the brick wall. Jump up the 2 platforms, then climb the ladder, and exit through the windows to the left.

Thick smoke blocks your path to the left. Climb down the ladder and the stairs and turn the switch to Off. Climb back up the stairs and ladder an d try to go left, but now you are blocked by debris. Climb down the ladder again and press the red button to lower the small bridge. Cross over and climb down, then use the left blue terminal. Press the coolant button to set the gauge to 0. Turn the red valve to the right, then reset the coolant gauge up to 2. Now use the red switch to stop the conveyor belt when a blue flue tank is about to be dropped into the incinerator.

Press the small red button in front of the incinerator to go up on a large platform. Grab the fuel tank, then go back down on the platform. Return left and up the ladders, putting the fuel tank in the pile of debris. Climb down and flip the switch back to On Bomb Person. Turn the switch off again. Climb up the stairs and ladder, then go left and use the big red elevator.

Phantom Echoes in the Records

Use the terminal just down the steps to the right and unlock it with these steps:

  1. Move the left blue box right.
  2. Move the green key down and right.
  3. Move the left blue box up and left.
  4. Move the right blue box left and up.
  5. Move the left blue box right and up.
  6. Move the green key up and left.

Walk left, then examine the crate that just fell to your right. Now head left and pick up the elevator counterweight. Climb the ladder and try to use the lever on the left. Add your counterweight just to the left, then use the lever. Step out on to the platform and use another lever to descend. Jump down to the left, and go through the door.

Look at the nearest terminal to get a sonar graphic record. Read the diary just to the left (News 14/14). Search the cabinet further to the left to find an unpowered battery. Examine the controls just to the left, which are currently inactive. Finally, use the circuit control panel on the far left - it is partially broken and currently under-powered, but you can set the switches as follows:

Back out and go down the stairs on the right. Examine the small hole just left of the ladder and take the pressure-resistant flange seat. Now climb down the netting on the left, then the next ladder. Take the copper gear from the wall here, and examine the deactivated robot on the ground. Climb down another ladder, then insert your unpowered battery into the generator just to the right. Wait a bit, then grab the fully-charged battery. Now head right and up a small ramp to a red machine. Examine this to get a battery cell case. Return left past the generator and examine the fuel engine, then take the invalid pressure gauge. Just to the left, examine the circuit control panel, and set the switches as follows:

Now go through the door to the right, then use the workbench. Combine your pressure-resistant flange seat and invalid pressure gauge to get a working pressure gauge. Go back through the door, then attach your pressure gauge to the fuel engine The Tune of the Past. Examine the circuit control panel to the left again, and set the switches like this:

Now go down the stairs to the right, and keep going right until a puppet drops down in front of you. Examine it to get a room card. Return left, up the ramp and up both ladders. Take the pinion from the right arcade game. Climb up the netting, then examine the umbrella to get a metal handle. Climb down the ladder on the right and use the workbench. Combine your metal handle and pinion to get a rocker. Climb up and go through the door, then the next door so you are above the "Destiny Fire" sign. Use the lever, then jump up to the platform. Use your rocker on the gear, then use it again to go back up.

Make your way right to the crate that fell near you earlier. Use your room card on it, then examine the body. Pick up the giant cyborg rat. Return left and go down on the platform, then go through the door and down the stairs. Continue down the ladder on the right and use the workbench again. Combine your giant cyborg rat and battery cell case to get another fully charged battery (you should now have 2 of these). Go through the door here, then to the red machine on the right. Insert your 2 batteries into the 2 slots. Now climb up the ladder and insert your copper gear just to the right. Go down the ladder and stairs into the water below and use the control panel here. Set both sliders to right, then press the red button to lower the platform above. Go up over the platform and grab the red toothed gear The Toothed Gear of Destiny.

Go back over the platform, then up the ladder and stairs. Insert the toothed gear here. Return down into the water and set the sliders to right and left, then press the red button. Next set both sliders to left. Make your way through the door to the left, then up the ladder and inside again. Use the control panel on the far left, setting the switches as follows:

Use the cords just to the right, hanging above the controls - use your sonar graphic record with them Code From Nowhere. Leave down the stairs, then head down to the right and over the platform. Continue through the near doorway, then go right Shadow in the Mist.

Chapter 4: The End in the Mist

Wake Up. The Nightmare is Real

Go out through the door, then climb the ladder. Go through the door next to William. Head left to approach the sculpture, then examine the signal projector (The End 1/8). Now go to the far right and use the elevator. Next walk right to the mushroom spores (The End 2/8). Climb down the ladder, then jump right over the yellow boxes, and jump left over the gap at the bottom. Go through the door into a steam control room.

Take the main valve wrench and broken emergency lamp from the left. Examine the main pipe, then take the air lock device from the right, and use it on the left vertical pipe. Leave this room and jump right over the gap again. Use your broken emergency lamp on the first cracked tank here - you will get a bottle of volatile fluid. Jump over the gap to the left, then use your volatile liquid on the fungi at the left edge of the gap. Unfortunately there will still be a spore cloud to deal with. Examine the robot you have revealed, and you will get a second air lock device.

Enter the steam control room again. Use your new air lock device on the right vertical pipe. Go back outside and use your main valve wrench on the large red valve. Climb down the ladder and head right Master of the Underground World. Now go through the door.

New Tricks, Old Sins

Go right and read the message. Examine the sculpture, then go through the door on the right into Sheryl's dressing room. Examine the gloves on the right, the bouquet of flowers on the small table, and the broken wine glass on the large dressing table. Now examine the record player to the left. You need to adjust the 3 knobs so the signal patterns match. Examine the sculpture that appears The Phantom of the Opera. Head through the portal to the right.

Examine the ventilation controls to the left. Swap the blocks so adjacent symbols match (they will all turn green). Next use the controls to the right of the stage to turn on the lights. Examine the stage. Now go to the far right and examine the cage door. Once the fingerprints are highlighted, notice that one of the numbers has 2 prints on it - the correct code is 2776. Enter the cage and examine the collar. Now examine the sculpture that appears in front of the stage Kanke Cooperate. Head through the portal to the left.

Examine the phone next to the bed and read all of the messages. Look at the toy on the bed. Enter the bathroom to the right and examine the uniform. Return to the bedroom and examine the sculpture The Home of Dolls. Head through the portal to the left.

Examine the sculpture again and you will automatically insert the organs Human Model. Examine the signal projector. Go through the doorway on the right.

Confrontation on Holy Ground

Go right and shoot at the targets multiple times. Examine the chandelier after it falls, then the book to the right. Examine all of the large colorful windows (The End 3/8), then continue through the right doorway.

Head right as far as you can, then use the platform controls. From the starting position, press these buttons: red, yellow, red, red, yellow, red. Now jump right over the platforms. Press the green button next to the second elevator, then use it to chase after Noa.

At the bottom you will find a secret lab (The End 4/8). Examine all 9 test subjects Biology Professor. Go through the door at the end.

Uncovering Buried Secrets

Examine the documents on the board (The End 5/8). Examine the green life support device, then the computer to the right - make sure you review all 3 documents. Back out and use the controls at the far left of the room. You need to recreate the pattern you just saw on the computer:

  • Press the orange/pink button twice
  • Press the yellow/green button once
  • Press the blue button twice

Head down the stairs that are revealed. Examine the clothes to the right, then go to the far left and through another door. Read the diary just to the right, and examine the large device to the left (The End 6/8). Talk to Charles. Grab the crowbar at the far right, then use it to free Charles The Story of Rescuing the White Mustache. Answer the first question either way, then you need to make a choice.

Choose to leave the equipment on <The Benevolence>. Load the most recent save, then continue on below.

Choose to turn off the equipment (The End 7/8), then use the green life support device <The Liberation>. Head down the stairs, and you will take the elevator down.

Beauty and Horror

Run to the far right, where you will face a set of 3 challenges. For each of these, you need to keep moving, as the eye will be tracking your movements and will shoot at you occasionally. Follow these steps to defeat the eye the first time:

  1. Press the left button.
  2. Press the right button.
  3. Get the eye to shoot at the bottom right green orb.

Head back to the middle of the platform, and you will face a second battle:

  1. Press the middle button.
  2. Press the left button.
  3. Get the eye to shoot at the bottom right blue orb.

Head back to the middle of the platform, and you will move up to the final battle:

  1. Press the middle button.
  2. Press the left button.
  3. Get the eye to shoot at the bottom right green orb.

You will now finally get to meet Noa properly Rex's Justice.

Epilogue: What's Past is New

New Office Life. Two Weeks Later

You will automatically get the last file (The End 8/8). Go out to the landing, then up the stairs. Talk to Charles, Robin and Nanco, then leave again. Go downstairs twice and talk to BB-X, then enter the living room Case Closed.

Final Achievements

There are a series of achievements for collecting files throughout the game:

  • Collect any 10 files Recorder
  • Collect any 35 files Naturalist
  • Collect any 62 files Mr. Know-It-All

The final achievement is for collecting all other achievements Misty Detective.
