After the introduction, pick up the teddy bear from the floor. Look at the nameplate next to your neighbour's door, then head inside. Try knocking on the living room door, but Mrs Oswald will not answer. Go back to your apartment.
Head left and open the bedside drawer to find your messenger. Use the messenger to get Mrs Oswald's number, then call her. Go back to her apartment and knock on the living room door to be let inside. You will give her the teddy bear and find out her husband's name. Once you have left again, use your messenger to get the number of the police department. Call the police, but there has been no operation in the area. Call Mrs Oswald again, then return to your apartment.
Grab a business card from the top drawer of your desk, then leave your apartment and press the button next to the lift to leave the building. Outside, head south across the road and into Brooklyn Park. Go over the bridge, then continue north, where the "guru" will be preaching quite loudly. Ignore him, and go towards the place to sleep. Pick up the wire from the post beneath the skull, then go back west, over the bridge again, and back to the park entrance.
Head to the kiosk and talk to Bob about everything. Go back across the street and into your apartment building, then go to the Oswald apartment. Talk to Deborah, then to Tommy. Trade your action figure for his alien doll, and make sure you get the photograph of Mr Oswald from Tommy (if he goes to his room, just leave the apartment and go back inside to get him to come out again).
Head out of the building again, then show your alien doll to Bob at the kiosk. Use the yellow SatCar on the side of the road, and once inside use the navigation system to head to Downtown Manhattan.
Go up the stairs at the front of the building and look at the terminal. Use your messenger on the terminal to identify yourself and head inside. Talk to Claire (the large security robot) who asks you to identify yourself. Go through the motions to get a new password issued and then say it back to Claire to get access to the building. Now use the elevators to get up to your office. Talk to Brian (near the centre of the office) and talk to him privately in the kitchen when you get a chance. After this chat, look at another central desk to see a steel noticeboard. Look closely at it and take the magnet. Now head up the stairs to the management level.
Talk to Mr Greenberg about everything, and make sure you get some more time off work. After your talk, head back down the stairs. Go to the other end of the floor and talk to Bill. Ask to use the upload terminal, but he won't let you do it until he is on a break. Leave the office and get back into the SatCar.
Lower East Side
Walk right and then left to the car wreck. Talk to Juan, and he will steal your messenger. Talk to Big Mike while you are here, then head north up the street - as you go north - if you see Juan come back past you don't bother following him, as he will be gone by the time you get back. Knock on the door of the Nuclear Cafe, but you will get no response. Head over the street and talk to Rita, who will tell you the knock code for the Cafe. Go back and knock again and you will get inside. Talk to Lou, then pick up your messenger from the table. Now show your photograph to Lou, and you will be allowed into the back room to see Cypher. Talk to him, and agree to change the slogan on the Telescreen outside in exchange for his help. Head back to your SatCar.
Head up to your office and talk to Bill again, who is still at the upload console. Offer to get him lunch, and he asks specifically for a Litelife meal. Leave the office building and get in the SatCar.
Visit Bob in the kiosk and after talking to him about other things, buy a Litelife meal. Return to the SatCar once more.
Go upstairs and into the kitchen. Try to put the meal in the microwave but you have no power. Plug the microwave in at the socket (near the door) but there is still no power. Go out to the entrance near where Brenda is standing, and open the fusebox. Flip the fuse back to the "on" position, then go back to the kitchen. Put the meal in the microwave, set the timer to 2 minutes, and press the start button. Now leave the kitchen and tell Bill his lunch is ready. After he leaves, look at the upload terminal, and put Cypher's disc in the drive to upload his message. Leave the office again.
Lower East Side
Return to the Nuclear Cafe and go out the back to talk to Cypher. Tell him his message is on the screen outside, then ask him about the photo to learn about SETI. Phone Mrs Oswald and talk to her about everything, then leave the Lower East Side in your SatCar.
Go up in the elevator, then up the stairs. Look at Mr Greenberg's desk, and lift up the corner of the pad to find a key. Use this key to open the drawer, then take the free flight checkbook. Close the drawer and leave the office.
Head inside and up the stairs, then use your checkbook at Terminal B to board a flight.
Enter the research centre, and talk to Dr Price to find out that Oswald left his bag at the souvenir shop. Head back outside, then go into the main part of the complex and northeast to the souvenir shop. Approach the door and the bag will be thrown out - pick it up and open it to find the knife, thread and video camera. Look at these items in your inventory, then return to the front of the complex and use the SatCar.
Head down the stairs and leave the airport.
Head into your apartment building, and visit the Oswalds again. Talk to Deborah about everything, and you will learn that the thread was from the teddy bear. Talk to Tommy and get the bear back, then use the knife on the bear to find a video tape. Tell Deborah about the tape, then pick up the locker key from the table and leave the building. Use the SatCar again.
Head up to the office and talk to Bill about the video tape. He will recommend an antique dealer in Greenwich Village. Go back downstairs and into your SatCar.
Walk across to the street to the antique store and try to open the door - it is locked. Combine the thread and wire in your inventory, then add the small magnet from the office to make a fishing rod. Use this on the mail slot in the door and you will retrieve a metal sign with a messenger number. Use your messenger to call Huntington Antiques, and you will end up inside the store. Talk to Mr Huntington, then pick up the War of the Worlds radio play from the left of the shop, and the VCR from the right. Leave the store and return to the SatCar.
Lower East Side
Enter the Nuclear Cafe and go straight through to the back room. Look at the desk with the cables, then talk to Cypher. Give him the War of the Worlds tape, and he will let you take the cable. Leave the Cafe and go back to the SatCar.
Head up to your apartment and put the VCR on the living room table. Plug the video cable into your telescreen, then put the video tape in the VCR to watch it. Leave your apartment again.
Go up the stairs to Terminal B and use the checkbook at the terminal.
Head into the main part of the complex and go to the round building to the east (the SETI Children's Observatory). Use one of the virtual telescopes, and enter the two numbers from the video: 8227.9347 and 2234.6621. After entering each number, look through the lens and print a photograph. Take both photographs, and leave the Observatory.
Head down the stairs and leave the airport.
Lower East Side
Talk to Cypher out the back of the Nuclear Cafe and show him the satellite photographs, then leave again.
Stand outside the antiques shop and use your messenger to call Huntington Antiques to get inside. Talk to Mr Huntington, then go to the back room of the shop. Use the light switch, then look at the magazine articles on the wall. Talk to Mr Huntington about the photographs, then leave the back room. Take a carrier pigeon from near the front window of the shop on your way out.
Go up to your apartment.
Head outside and get in a SatCar.
Go inside and up the first flight of stairs, then go left into the Information Center. Talk to Ms Evans about the zeppelins, then look out the window to the right of the exit, and Ms Evans will leave. Now go behind the desk and use the surveillance system to find out the combination to a locker in the locker room. Leave the Information Center and go over to the far right of the upstairs section. Use your locker key in the only locker you have access to, and enter the combination 2543. Pick up the diary and read it for a lot of background information. Now leave the airport.
Enter your apartment building and visit the Oswalds. Talk to Deborah about the diary, then go to your own apartment. Use the computer twice to have a very disjointed conversation with Christine, then answer your door and you will receive a ticket to Lunar 5. Exit the building and return to the airport.
Go inside and up to Terminal A. Use your Lunar 5 ticket to board.
Lunar 5 Sector A
Talk to Hostess Linda and you will eventually reach your cabin. Take the glass and towel from your "washing facility", then leave the cabin again. Head south 3 times, then west to reach the entrance. Cross the bridge over this pool, and head through reception into the recreation area. Talk to Dr Jenkins (if he isn't standing next to the pool, leave the area and come back again), then talk to the other guests on your way to the other end of the recreation area. At the bar, look at the tray and take a cocktail. Head all the way back to your room.
Look at your table, then put the glass and towel on it, followed by the cocktail. Pick up the capsules, towel and glass, and return to the recreation area (leave and return if Dr Jenkins is not by the pool). Go to the bar, and at the far end you will see Dr Jenkin's favourite seat. Look at the bar here to see a coffee cup. In your inventory, use your knife on the capsules, then put the contents into the coffee cup. Leave the area and come back again so Dr Jenkins will be at the bar. Go to the bar and he will feel unwell and leave. Look at the bar and pick up his radio transmitter.
Go back to the entrance area and look at the door to the right of the cabin area door. Use the radio transmitter on the cover to open it, then press the red button to open the door to Engineering. Inside, look at the blue display to the left. You need to set this to normal Earth conditions, so set the top-left controller to 78 (oxygen), bottom-left controller to 21 (nitrogen) and top-right controller to 1 (other gases). Once these are correct, press the large green button and get into the elevator.
Lunar 5 Sector B
Go south along the walkway and look at the discarded object. Take the tool and the energy stick from it, then continue to the end of the conveyor belt and take a closer look. Use the energy stick on one of the machines about to take off (and you will get a working energy stick). Now return to the elevator.
Lunar 5 Sector A
Leave Engineering to terminate your stay on Lunar 5.
Talk to Lou, who is near terminal A within the airport. Next head into the Air Lounge and talk to Gerald several times to find out his ID card was stolen. Leave the airport and get into a SatCar.
Lower East Side
Talk to Rita and ask her about Gerald to get his ID card.
Go to the locker area and use your safe deposit box to dump most of your inventory items. Give the safe deposit key to your pigeon, and go out the front of the airport to let the pigeon fly away. Head back inside and go up to Terminal C (to the right), where you can use the ID card to check in.
Head to the main platform, then to the elevator in the background. Look at the control unit, then press the red button. You now need to set the display to the code mentioned in the diary (TR M BR B - BL B BR). To do this, press the left up button 5 times, and the right down button 10 times. Now turn the switch to activate the elevator, and get inside. Press the yellow button to go down. Climb down the ladder and get into the boat, and you will see a mine in the water. Drive the boat to the pillar nearest the mine, then pick it up and you will automatically carry it up to the main platform.
Go back down in the rear elevator (you need to enter the code again). Once at the bottom, enter the code again, and press the yellow button on the outside of the elevator to make it go up without you. Look into the elevator shaft and in the opening to the left to find some dive gear. Climb down to the boat and drive to the furthest pillar, then put on the dive gear and get into the water. Open the hatch and flip the switch, then swim back to the surface. Take the boat back to its mooring. Climb up the ladder, enter the code and take the elevator back up.
Now use the yellow elevator - enter the same code and go up in the elevator, then open the door to find a computer room. Look at all of the displays, and make sure you get a message about memorising the coordinates from the coordinates display. Pick up the rope from the floor, then go outside and take the yellow elevator back down. Head back to the mine and attach the rope to the mine, then attach the rope to the zeppelin cable. After you take off, look at the rear of the zeppelin and open the hatch in the ceiling. Climb up to hide for the rest of the journey.
Head towards the antiques shop and you will taken into custody.
After your initiation, guard Smith will come in to check your cell. Head to the Cell wing and talk to Brett. Go out to the yard, then back to your own cell. Pick up the bread from the table and sit on your bed. After Smith checks your cell again, go out to the Cell wing and into Brett's cell (he will be in the yard). Take the ketchup and return to your own cell. Use your bed again. This time when Smith comes in, use the ketchup on his hat. When he passes out, quickly leave your cell and search his body to get a key. Head left and use the key on the gate to enter the guards room. Look through the window, then look at Mr Longneck and take him. Leave the guards room and close the gate, then put the key back on Smith's body before he wakes up. Return to your cell and sit on your bed.
Before your cell door opens this time, attach your piece of string to the bars (this will remove your tooth). Now head out to the yard - if it is day time, go back to your cell and sit down to wait some more. If it is night time, you can escape! Give your bread to the magpie, then give the tooth to the magpie in your inventory. Use the magpie on the night sky, then climb the tree in the corner of the yard.
Talk to Bob in the kiosk to get a MagTrain ticket, then use your ticket on the MagTrain Station (behind the SatCars).
Go into the antiques shop and look at the lights (the crystal chandelier) to find your locker key. Leave the shop and you will automatically go to the airport.
Head inside and up the stairs, and use your locker key on the safe deposit box to get your things back. You will see that you have a message from Huntington, but there is no sound. Leave the airport and take a SatCar to Brooklyn.
Head into Brooklyn Park and show your messenger to the guitar player.
Subways and Sewers
Head north, across the bridge and north again, then south around the corner, and north along the passage all the way to the end. Turn left at the end and go straight ahead, then go down the stairs and open the door. Use the switch next to the door, then head along the subway platform and take the map in the display. Go back through the door and up the stairs. Take the passage to the left, then go all the way south and around the corner. Head north and back over the bridge, then turn left and go through the doorway. Pick up the shoe, then continue south and down 3 more sets of stairs. Finally, open the door to exit the sewers.
Head along the subway platform and into the train. Talk to the Professor several times, then talk to Charlie outside, and finally head into the back car of the train to talk to Oswald. Leave the train and try to give the shoe to Juri (further along the platform). Fix the shoe with your thread, and give it to him again; he will now lead you to your next location.
Pick up the plank and you will rest it across the stair railing. Stand on the plank and open the grill above, then climb up into your apartment building.
Open the bathroom door and you will speak to Tommy, then take control of Deborah. Use the computer and you will get a map. Talk to the Agent about everything, but you have no excuse to leave yet. Go to Tommy's room and pick up the jelly beans from the box, then head into the bathroom and put the jelly beans in the toilet. Wait a minute or so for the candy to swell up in the water, then flush the toilet to make it overflow. Go out and talk to the Agent and you will be allowed out of the apartment.
Ice Lake Inn
Head up the path away from the ice lake and you will see a pile of planks in the background. Look at the planks and you will throw one into the water - this will lure someone out from inside the Inn. Go around and into the building, and get a key from inside the key box on the shelf. Head back outside and use the key on the jet sleigh.
Open the cover of the jet sleigh and take the gas canister and rag. Head around to the left of the Dome, and use the gas canister and rag on the snow field. Use your lighter on the canister to melt the snow, then look at the camera near the entrance. Look away and the doors will open, so head inside.
Go down the main hall and look at the body on the right side. Take the disk from his hand, and the note from his pocket. The note appears to be blank, but take a look in your inventory using your lighter and you will see the message NA - EU - AF - AU - SA. Next, head down the end of the hall and through the door into the main control room. Go down the stairs and have a long conversation with the computer, which has missiles aimed at New York. You need to disable the computer's AI and the missiles before you will be able to leave the Dome.
Leave the computer room and go to the bulkhead opposite Johnson's body to see a switch panel. Using the code from his note, press North America, Europe, Africa, Australia and finally South America to open the door. Head up the stairs and you will enter a set of 5 rooms, each containing a large satellite dish, and interlinked by corridors displaying maps. This set of rooms is in the shape of a pentagon, and each dish on a point of the pentagon corresponds with the map on the opposite side. The aim is to have 3 of the dishes pointing only to Bermuda, where you have destroyed the station - this will shut down the information stream. To achieve this, you can use these steps:
- Set dish 1 to far left (006)
- Set dish 2 to middle (108)
- Set dish 3 to far right (210)
- Set dish 4 to far right (282)
- Set dish 5 to far left (294)
Now make the following final adjustments:
- Set dish 3 to far right (216)
- Set dish 1 to far left (000)
You will now automatically end up in the main computer room again, with alarms sounding. Leave this room and return to Johnson's body, where the Evacuation buklhead is now open. Go through here and over the long bridge into an area containing huge rockets. Pull the lever next to unit 3, and get into the evacuation capsule. If you want to see New York destroyed, just pull the red lever and press the button. If you want to save New York, insert the disk into the slot first, then pull the lever and press the button.
