Meridian 157: Chapter 2 is the second game in a series of point-and-click puzzle adventures starring forensic meteorologist Dr David Zander. It follows after Meridian 157: Chapter 1. In this game, you need to continue to explore the facility in which you are trapped. The series continues with Meridian 157: Chapter 3.

Mine Tunnels

Look at the access panel on the wall ahead and slide the hatch upwards. Open the medical kit and take out the medical bandage and medical saw. Back out and look at the pipe on the ground, then use your medical saw to cut it. Pick up the cut pipe. Look at the broken window, then use the pipe to smash it so you can climb outside.

It is too dark to go forward, so open the power box on the right wall. Swap the panels here so that all 4 green lights are connected. Now go forward through the tunnel. Take the left path, then go left to Storage 2. Enter the blue container and pick up the large stick. Back out and go right to find a larger open cavern with a central pillar.

Head along the tunnel to the far left. There is a generator here and a dark tunnel off to the right. Continue forward and through the wooden door to find an office. Look at the locker on the right, which has 4 numbers and 4 symbols (shield + clock, gear - moon). Next look at the table and make note of the maze, and the partially hidden blueprint with a hexagon. Go back to the cavern with the central pillar. Go to the right part of this room and into the wooden structure. Pick up the mining pickaxe. Examine the locked box, and then the padlock. You need to drag the numbers around to match the blueprint:

Pick up the padlock, and take the old key from inside the box. Back out twice, then look at the locked door to Storage 1 on the left. Use the old key, then go through the door. The trapdoor on the right cannot be opened by hand, it requires the use of a winch and hook. Examine the winch controls on the left - turn the wheel to lower the winch as far as you can. Now look at the bench against the far wall. Pick up the bolt cutters and notice the color pattern on the wall.

Back out of this room and go all the way back to the first branch in the mine tunnels. Go right this rime and examine the large gear on the right to see some symbols to take note of. Continue further to find a chained mine cart. Use your bolt cutters on the chain, then take the short chain and crowbar. Go back to Storage 1. Attach your short chain to the hook on the end of the winch, then use the padlock on the lower end of the chain. Use the winch controls to raise the winch and open the trapdoor. Go down to the storage basement. Pick up the lever from the right. Look at the clock to see it has stopped at 10 o'clock.

Go back up and out to the larger cavern. Go over to the right and into the wooden structure. Use the lever on the controls here, then pull it down to lower the ladder. Go out and climb the ladder. Look at the desk. Read the diary and take the blue see-through card. Back out and look at the notice board. Look at the Babylonion numerals chart to realize that the symbols on the gear represented the numbers 18 plus 5. Also look at the moon chart to notice that the moon symbol from the locker corresponds with Moon 7.

Climb back down, then go along the far left tunnel to the office again. Look at the maze on the desk and use your blue see-through card on it. Line this up with the central part of the maze, and make note of the highlighted walls in the middle. Now go back to Storage 2. Examine the lock on the yellow container, and set it to match the maze segment you just revealed:

Pick up the old screwdriver from inside. Back out and return to the larger cavern with the central pillar. Go to the right part of this room, and examine the controls for the large tank of gasoline. You need to press on the hexagonal panels in the color order indicated in the Storage 1 room:

Now a pipe puzzle will appear. Rotate the pipes to connect the inlet and outlet, making sure there are no open-ended pipes between the two.

Wrap the medical bandage around your stick, then soak this in the gasoline on the ground. Go to the electrical box near the dark tunnel and use your screwdriver on it. Put the doused torch in the bottom of the electrical box, then pull the lever on the side, and a spark will ignite the torch. Enter the dark tunnel, then go forward. Look over to the left and pick up the explosive fuse. Back out and look over to the right, then use your crowbar to remove the boards from the doorway. Enter the Explosives room and look at the shield with Route 33 written on it. There is a crate of explosives on the left that is missing something to allow you to open it.

Go back out of the dark tunnel and into the office. You can now open the locker with the numbers 4316 (33 + 10 = 43, 23 - 7 = 16). Take out the ornamental wooden pieces. Go through the dark tunnels to the Explosives room again, and examine the crate on the left. Use the ornamental wooden pieces here, and arrange them to fill in the shape:

Take the barrel of TNT. Head all the way back to the first branch in the tunnels and take the right path again. Go forward and then left to the blocked tunnel. Combine the fuse and barrel, then put this in front of the barricades. Back out once, then light the fuse with your torch. Go left and through the newly opened passage, then around to the back of the room. Examine the filled-in hole, and clear it using your pickaxe. Pick up the gas mask. Back out 6 times, then go down the stairs to the left (opposite the large gear). Continue ahead to automatically use the gas mask, then proceed through the door ahead.

Metal Walkways

Go forward, up the stairs, and into a room on the right. Take the wood saw from the back wall. Look at the cage to the right and trace a pattern over each symbol in one pass:

Take the wrench, then back out of this room and go up some more stairs. Continue into the Boiler Room on the right, and examine the series of pressure valves. Look at the broken pipe, and remove it with your wrench. Take the ornamental key. Use this on the locked drawer in the right side of this room. Open the drawer and take out the duct tape. As you close the drawer, take note of the colors of the lights on the top of the table.

Go back out of the room and down both sets of stairs, then examine the door on the left. Click on the grid of buttons to change their colors to match those you just saw in the Boiler Room:

Now head through the door. Go to the left side and take the old rag from the railing. Back out and now go through the door to the far right. In this room, look at the power cable on the floor, and repair it with your duct tape. Try to clean the window, but the rag is not enough by itself. Look in the shelves and take the small gear (1/4). Back out of this room and climb down the ladder to the level below. Go across to the barricaded gate, and use your saw to cut the wooden board. Push open the gate and go through. The room is quite dark, but you can see a series of 3 symbols on the wooden box to the right.

Back out of this room and look at the small box on the pillar to the right. Based on the shapes you just saw on the wooden box, click to highlight these shapes:

  1. The outer-most square (8 segments)
  2. The largest diamond inside this square (8 segments)
  3. A large triangle in the top-right of this diamond (6 segments)
  4. A small triangle inside this triangle (3 segments)

Take out the spray bottle containing a cleaning solution. Go back up the ladder and into the room at the far right. Look at the window and use the cleaning solution on it, then use the rag on it. Go down the ladder and go through the opened gate again. Now that there is light here, climb through the broken window on the left, then go through the next door. Grab the pipe piece and go all the way back to the Boiler Room.

Go over to the pressure valves again and attach your pipe piece. Now you need to use the valves to get the pressure into the green zone. Adjust the valves as follows:

The gauge should now be in the green zone, so back out of the Boiler Room and approach the blue door. Press the green button on the wall and go through the door.

Highway

Start by heading left to find a traffic light and fork in the road. Go to the right from here, and enter the control shed at the end. Examine the control panel on the desk and press the Sequence button. Now press the quadrant buttons in the order they lit up:

  • Top-left
  • Top-right
  • Bottom-right
  • Top-right
  • Bottom-right

Press the Sequence button again, then press the quadrant buttons:

  • Top-left
  • Bottom-right
  • Top-left
  • Bottom-left
  • Top-right
  • Bottom-right

Press the Sequence button again, then press the quadrant buttons:

  • Bottom-left
  • Bottom-right
  • Top-left
  • Top-right
  • Bottom-right
  • Top-left
  • Bottom-left

Go back to the fork in the road and watch the traffic light, noting the symbols revealed in each of the lights. Go back to where you enter the highway and go right this time. Look at the control panel at the end on the left. You now need to move the three colored markers between pairs of symbols that can be added together to create the symbols you saw in the traffic lights (the straight lines are points of reflection):

Now head into the tunnel ahead. At the end, pick up the rusty bucket. Look at the large excavator, and take the keys from inside. Go back to the first part of the right side of the highway and look at the locked cage. Use the keys on the padlock, then take the binoculars from the cage.

Back out and go to the left side of the highway, taking the right path at the fork. Use your rusty bucket on the right to catch oil from the broken pipe. Go back and then take the left path at the fork. Go to the end and use your binoculars to look at the blue truck to see the number plate says BUGGY. Back out and try to open the metal door on the left. Use your bucket of oil here, then open the door. Open the cabinet on the right with the combination BUGGY. Take a black light bulb and another small gear (2/4) from inside here. Look at the desk and take the magnet and the light bulb, then put your black light bulb in the lamp. Look at the UV symbols on the map, and read the information on the clipboard.

Back out of this room and look at the smaller metallic panel just to the right of the door. Use your magnet on the metal latch to drag it upwards, then open the panel. Grab the small gear (3/4) and take note of the numbered blue and red pipes. Back out of here and go all the way down the right side of the highway to the large excavator. Look at the panel on the side of it to see a puzzle that resembles the pipes you just saw. If you just think of the numbers in groups of 3, you can adjust the numbers on the panel as follows:

Take the small gear (4/4). Return along the left side of the highway and go to the control shed at the end of the right fork. Look at the Gate Controller mechanism on the left. Insert the small blue gears as follows:

Press the green button to open the gate outside. Go out and through the gate, then look at the manhole cover. You need to adjust the 4 controls in the corner to match the UV symbols you saw earlier (realizing that is is rotated through 180 degrees):

  • Top-Left: Move to the very top
  • Top-Right: Move to the middle
  • Bottom-Left: Move to second from bottom
  • Bottom-Right: Move to the very bottom

Climb down through the manhole.

Waterways

Go forward to see a rusted padlock on the door on the right. Follow the path out to a large round room with an incomplete balcony. Go around to the end of the corridor on the left and see the symbols on the closed door to Drain Valve II. Back out twice and lift the handle up to raise the door, but it won't stay there. Back out more, and go down the right corridor. Look at the puzzle on the right wall. You need to move the numbers around so that when you press the green button, all of the bars can withdraw in order:

Pick up the hammer and examine the green book. Go to the Drain Valve I door and adjust the symbols based on the information from the green book and the Drain Valve II door. From the top, going clockwise, set the symbols as follows:

  • Shield
  • Rectangle
  • Triangle
  • Kite
  • Hexagon

Go through the door and pick up the rusted chisel, then turn the valve. Head all the way back to the rusted padlock - use your chisel in it, then hit it with the hammer. Open the latch and enter the room, then pick up the broken ladder. Leave this room and go to the left corridor from the round room. Use the broken ladder to hold the lever on the wall up. Now lift the lever, and go forward through the opened door. Turn the valve here. Go back out to the round room, which is now filled with water. Step from the broken balcony onto the floating crates, then towards the exit corridor. Continue outside.

Woods

Cross the bridge and take the path to the right. Pick up the shovel on the left here, then continue forward. Go around the veranda of the wooden hut and take the fishing rod. Return to the branch and take the path to the left. Continue out to the jetty and examine the blue box. Solve the jigsaw puzzle by clicking any two pieces to have them switch places. Once the box is open, take the fishing line and combine it with the fishing rod. Add the magnet to the fishing rod, then use this on the key in the water. Pick up the very rusty key.

Go to the wooden hut with the veranda and use the very rusty key on the door, then head inside. Sleep on the bed. Get up and look at the dirty mirror in the corner of the room.

After waking up, climb the ladder in the corner to reach the attic. Look in the open box and take the gloves and coat. Look at the 3 photos on the right and take the torn piece of paper (1/4). Now head over to the desk to take a lock pick and read a diary. Go back outside and head up the hill. Use your crowbar on the wooden box here and take out some firewood. Continue further up the hill and use your lockpick on the door - if the tumblers are numbered 1-4 from left to right, use the lockpick the tumblers in this order: 2, 1, 3, 2, 4, 4. Inside, take the lighter fluid from the right. Look at the desk and take another torn piece of paper (2/4).

Back outside again, go all the way back to the jetty, then continue across the frozen lake. Veer right towards a small camp. Enter the tent and look in the boots to find a box of matches. Pull the rug down to reveal the next torn piece of paper (3/4). Back outside, look at the small camp stove. Put your firewood at the bottom, use the lighter fluid on the wood, then light it with the matches. Look in the water after it melts and take the metallic knob. Back out once and look at the base of the tree on the right. Use the shovel on the snow here to reveal a metallic box. Use your knob here, then rotate the knobs until there are only 2 lines highlighted. Once the box opens, grab the final torn piece of paper (4/4).

Backtrack all the way to the wooden hut and head inside. Approach the table at the back and lay out your torn pieces of paper with the existing one to create a complete pattern. Go back outside and up the hill into the other building. Look at the control panel here and recreate the pattern by clicking on the appropriate segment. Once you are done, you can go through the door on the left. Pick up the hand crank from the right side of the room.

Cross the frozen lake again, and this time head up to the left on the other side. In the small hut, attach your hand crank on the left, then spin it clockwise to bring the gondola over to you. Now step onto the gondola to go across the chasm.

Snowy Bunker

Go forward twice, then follow the path around to the left. Take the next path to the right and go up the stairs (ignore the locked hatch for now). Look in the box on the table and take out the hex key. Back out and take note of the shape (1/6) engraved on the wall to the left.

Go back to the previous fork and go left, then turn right at the next one and take note of the shape (2/6) carved into the tree here. Back out again and turn left to find a bunker called Sector C. Look at the panel on the left wall and remove the cover using your hex key. Now you need to create a single path throughout the puzzle that is revealed, without going over any line twice. After the door opens, go inside.

Go to the left and look at the table to find a key. There is a locked cabinet here that requires a combination, and there is a poster on the right wall with some important figures to note. Go back to where you climbed the stairs earlier. Look at the locked hatch on the right. You need to position the shapes based on the poster from inside the bunker:

  • Square at top left
  • Triangle at left end of horizontal line
  • Diamond at right end of horizontal line
  • Star at top right

Down through the hatch, take the crossbow. Also take note of the shape (3/6) on the left and the other shape (4/6) on the right. Go back outside and back until you see the locked hunter's box on the left. Unlock this with your key, and take out the arrows and string. Now head back to the lake and step towards its edge. Combine your crossbow, string and arrows, then use this to shoot the rope holding the bag. Look inside the bag to see the number 3914.

Go to the Sector C bunker and unlock the cabinet with the combination 3914. Once the cabinet opens, take note of the shape (5/6) on the left and the shape (6/6) on the right. Also grab the piece of see-through paper. Back out of this room and go around to the right to see a large door with 6 symbols. You need to rotate these to match the 6 shapes you have seen. Go through the opened door. Notice the locked car and the controls on the wall here, then continue through the next door.

Enter the medical tent on the right and grab another piece of see-through paper. Also take the gas canister from the shelving. Go back to the left room inside the bunker and add your 2 pieces of see-through paper to the light box, placing them over the existing grid. Take note of the symbols in each position. Now go back through the building and past the medical tent, looking at the lock on the next building. Rotate the dials to match the grid on the light box:

Inside, take the car keys from the right, and take note of the calendar on the wall. Go back to the car and look at the controls on the wall. Adjust the red bars so that each represents a date from the calendar as indicated by the numbers across the top:

The garage door will now open. Open the gas cap on the car and fill it with gas from the canister. Use the keys on the car door, then use the steering wheel to drive.
