Introduction

Choose your appearance and watch the scrolling introductory text. After the 4 guardians appear, click on the map, then click on the red Heiankyo tab at the top.

Fields

Pick up the mirror from the ground. Turn right and you will see a demon (Tsukumogami) hiding in the grass. Click on it repeatedly, then pick up the amulet that it drops. Turn right again and take the clothes from the dead man. Look in the mirror to see you are now wearing the clothes. Next pick up the bag of money. Turn right twice more, then go forward until you reach the Rajomon Gate.

Try to head through, but you will be told "Go back". Turn right and talk to the samurai here (Watanabe no Tsuna). Give him the amulet. When he asks if you feel something weird, answer with "Yes". After a brief fight, you can then take the sword. Turn left and click multiple times to open the Rajomon Gate, then go through.

Town

Southern Precinct

As soon as you enter, turn left and click on the white dog eating the corpse - a larger black dog will come and attack it. Back out and keep turning left until you can approach someone praying in front of the Jizo statue. After the initial story, click on the arrow in the statue to learn more.

Back out and then head west along the street until you reach a dead body bending forwards. Click on the body and take another bag of money. Turn around and head east until you can see a temple ahead on the left. Turn left and click on the man who is approaching (Nichizo). Answer his question with "Yes". Follow Nichizo and click on him again, then follow him into the Toji Temple.

After he stops and speaks again, go forward into the Main Hall - click on the candles and the lamp, then click again and the Buddha will disappear. After Nichizo walks to the right, turn right and go through the next door. Approach the tower and look up at the top, then look back down and left. Now go forward into the Lecture Hall. Click on the bells in the middle of the table, then watch the ritual. Once Nichizo returns, talk to him again - answer his question with "Yes". Run through the steps of the ritual again, then try to head right. When Nichizo asks if you want to stop practice, answer with "Yes", and he will give you a Sutra.

Turn right and go out through both doors to return to the streets. Now go left, forward and right to see a broken cart. Move forward and click on the demon, then use your Sutra on it to scare it away. Turn around and go forward 6 times, then click on the small yin-yang altar. Talk to Kamo no Tadayuki about it. Continue forward and then left. Approach the group of 3 demons here. Click on them until Kamo no Tadayuki appears and gets rid of them.

Turn left, then go forward 3 times and turn left twice so you are facing north along the main street. Go forward until you are blocked by the crowd, then turn right and speak to the woman here. Answer here question with "Yes", then follow her and click on her again. Open the doors and go inside. Click on the young woman several times, until she is killed by the demon. Talk to the old woman from earlier who you saw at the Jizo statue.

Leave here and go west 3 times to return to the main street. Click on the ghosts, who will block further passage in this direction. Turn around and go to the far east, then open the wooden doors and head through.

Eastern Market

Turn right and buy a bow for 5 coins, and some arrows for another 5 coins. There are lots of other stalls here that sell food, medicine and sandals. There is also Madame Moneylender, who you should avoid. After leaving the arms seller, go forward, left, forward, right, forward, left and forward twice. Here you will find the cockfighting ring. You can bet money on cock fights to get more money.

Once you are done, turn right, then go forward, left, forward and left. Click on the girl, then answer "Yes" to help her. Choose to use your sword. Now follow the girl until you reach the Kawaranoin. Follow her inside and click on her while she is standing just outside the house. After she is grabbed, use your sword to open the door. Go inside to the dark room and turn left, then approach her body - you will end up back outside in the Kawaranoin. Turn around and go out through the doors.

Northern Precinct

Go forward and turn right. Head north along this street until you see a gap in the wall ahead on the right. Turn right and you will see thunder and lightning - click on the dark figure to the left and the storm will stop again.

Turn around so you are facing west, then go forward along this street. Click on the small woman that turns into a kettle, and she will burrow away. Keep going west until you reach another temple on your right. Turn right and head inside the Shinsen'en. Step forward and answer "Yes" to the question about visiting the Toji Temple. Now you can watch another ritual. Afterwards, talk to the old woman outside.

Turn left and head forward 3 times, then turn right and head forward (north) along the main street until you reach the Suzaku Gate. Talk to the man here and answer his question with "Yes". Play a game of backgammon and win - the prize will be a woman that you cannot touch.

Back out and turn right. Go forward 8 times, then turn left. Now go forward until you reach the edge of the town. Turn left and go forward to see Watanabe no Tsuna again, this time on a horse. Click on the demon that appears next to him, then give the sword back when asked. Take the sword again after the battle.

Turn left and go forward to see a floating skull - click on it several times and it will back away down the street. Go forward and click on it again. Attack the old woman with the sword when prompted. Attack the young woman with the sword when prompted. Now attack the spider multiple times until it dies. Open up the spider to let out hundreds of skulls from inside. Turn left again and go forward 3 times, then turn right and you will be at the Upper East Gate. Step forward.

Palace

Using the map, head east as far as you can, then south, then east again to reach the corner of the Utagi Pine Field. Keep going left until you are confronted by a demon holding a human head. Use your Sutra here to get rid of the demon. Continue left and you will see a woman between the trees - click on her and she will eventually turn into a white fox. She will urinate on you before leaving.

Turn around until you can move forward through the trees. Click on the buildings on the right, then click to move the glowing blue light across the sky to the left. Now turn right and approach a demon eating a guard. Click on the demon and use the Sutra again. Now take the guard's clothes. Use the mirror to see your clothes have changed.

Now make your way to the Kenrei Gate. Keep going forward until you meet Emperor Kammu. Save your game. Turn left and clouds will roll in, then you will be attacked by a flying demon. Use your bow and shoot the demon (you have 3 goes since you have 3 arrows). After shooting the demon, turn right twice and go through a secret passage that opens.

Continue forward towards the flame, then click on it and it will fly away. Turn left and go through more doors, then go downstairs. Turn left and go through another partially obscured door to find a hall filled with men. No matter how you answer their question, the Thunderbolt Event will occur. Follow the pale figure to the right and through the doors, then talk to him, answering his question with "No".

Approach the hooded figure who is being beaten. When Nichizo arrives, click on him, then answer "Yes" to both of his questions. Turn until you see a pale blue light, then head towards it. Turn around until you see Kuya performing a ritual, then go towards him. Talk until he repeats his mantra, then respond with "Namu Amida Butsu".
