Richard and Alice is a 3rd person adventure game starring the two titular characters, who are occupying adjacent prison cells deep underground in a world ravaged by climate change. Through a series of flashbacks and present-time scenarios you learn the backstory of the characters and possibly help them stage an escape. There are 5 different endings to the game. There are 21 Steam Achievements, all documented in the walkthrough below.

Arrival

Richard

After meeting Alice, pick up the family photograph from the table next to your bed. Also take the spare sheet and spare duvet cover from beneath the bed and combine them together. Use this combination on your barred door, then use the photograph on the door The Albatross Corridor.

Alice

Use your box key on the box. Talk to Barney about escaping, then move the plant next to the door and examine the hole you find. Take a colored block from the floor and use it on the hole Blocks That Matter.

Day 1

Richard

Watch the television and select Channel 1 Analogue: A Televised Story. Use your shower, then use the computer. Search the wardrobe for your login stick, then use this on the computer. Use the computer and submit a ticket. Talk to Alice, then take the small metal tray and use it on Alice. Ask Alice about what happened after the basement Hall of Mirrors.

Alice

Walk down and left from the house, and use the door to enter the shed. Take the rusty shears from above the workbench, then use them on the cabinet. Get the items from the cabinet (gun, small key and a note). Examine the note, then return to the house and Barney will give you a toy car. Use the small key on the padlock, then use the gun on the padlock.

Take the note from the bulletin board and read it, then look at the radio. Search the cabinet here to get some shotgun shells. Next search the cupboard in the kitchen to get bin bags, sweetcorn and another note. Read this note, then use the bin bags on the rotten food. Ask Barney why he talks about "bad men", then read the note he gives you.

Open the middle door, and use your small key on the toy chest to get a keepsake box. Look at the keepsake box to get a set of keys and a child's drawing. Look at this drawing, then search the clothes to get some torn paper. Look at the torn paper, then use the set of keys on the left door. Pick up the wooden plank and use it on the front door Bathroom Break.

Day 5

Richard

After talking to Alice, examine the bucket to get some sticky tape. Pick up the brush and mop and combine them, then use the sticky tape on them. Use your makeshift pole on the environmental control unit out in the hallway. Talk to Alice to get a brush, and use this on the pole, then use the sticky tape on it again. Now use your longer makeshift pole on the environmental control unit Housework.

Alice

Head down and pick up the satchel from near the bench. Examine the satchel to find a diary. Read the diary, then look at the sign to the right and tell Barney the Polar Bears aren't scary. Pick some flowers, then head up and left around the frozen lake. Look at the grave left of the one with the dead flowers, then use your flowers on the grave. Tell Barney his father died Flowers to Dead Man.

Day 6

Richard

After talking to Alice, use the computer and try to submit a ticket. Talk to Alice and ask her about the handbook, then get her to look up Section 64c. Try to open the bathroom cabinet, then look at the mostly empty plate to get a safety knife and use this on the cabinet Sirens.

Alice

Walk up to the left to find the church.

Create a save here if you want to see all the endings. Choose to do one of the following actions:

  • Take the piece of paper and read it.
  • Don't take the piece of paper.

Look at the can in the bin, then head up and left to the frozen lake. You will see a box in the middle of the lake, and then hear a bell. Go back to the church and head inside. Read the book on the right, and examine the statue of Mary at the front to see it is cracked. Also look at the trapdoor just to the right, and try to open it. Take the ladder and also grab the electric lighter from the altar.

Leave the church and return to the house. Head inside. Use the radio to get the batteries from inside, and put the batteries in your electric lighter. Look in the cooker to get a baking tray. Leave the house and return to the church again. Use your electric lighter on the can in the bin, and you will get it (rust removal spray). Use this on the rusted ladder.

Now go back to the house again and use your ladder on the upper window to get inside. Take the crowbar from under the board, and also get the note from the lower right pole, and the empty notebook and old newspaper from the table. Go back out through the window, pick up the ladder and return to the church.

Head to the church and go inside. Use your crowbar on the statue of Mary. Next go outside and into the shed (go right and then down), and use your baking tray on the vice. Use your shotgun shells on the vice, then pick up the tray of gunpowder. Head outside again and return to outside the church.

Create a save here if you want to see all the endings. Choose to do one of the following actions:

  • Go to the frozen lake by heading up to the left. Use your ladder on the lake and you will get a bullet The Magic Bullet. Return to the church.
  • Don't get the bullet from the frozen lake.

Head inside the church. Use your homemade bomb on the broken statue, then add the old newspaper and use your electric lighter on it The Homecoming.

Day 7

Richard

Take the toothbrush cup from the bathroom cabinet, and use the cup on the basin to fill it with water. Use this on the television. Fill the cup again and use it on the computer Don't Gloat, Richard.

Alice

Create a save here if you want to see all the endings. Choose to do one of the following actions:

  • Give Barney the toy car It's Dangerous to Go Alone.
  • Don't give Barney the toy car.

Leave the house and head to the church - you will automatically head inside Alice the Librarian. Talk to the man in the confessional about everything. Outside at the grave, talk to Mark about everything. You will automatically return to the house The Sound of Silence.

Richard

Use your family photo on Alice Testing the Waters. Take the brick from the ground. Search the hanged guard for a pocket mirror, and use the brick on the mirror to get some glass shards. Use these on the laser beams, then use the keypad to complete the game Smoke and Mirrors. The ending that you reach now depends on the choices you made during the game:

  • Take the piece of paper by the church. Get the bullet from the frozen lake. Give Barney the toy car. Nothing's Changed
  • Take the piece of paper by the church. Get the bullet from the frozen lake. Don't give Barney the toy car. Hold On
  • Take the piece of paper by the church. Don't get the bullet from the frozen lake. Don't give Barney the toy car. Parting Ways
